With over 50 years’ experience in the moving industry, we at Kyabram Removals & Storage have picked up quite a few tips and tricks that can help to take the stress out of the moving process. Our experts would love to share their advice with you.
This allows you to find out what services they offer and if they’re the right people for the job. Some removalists are happy to come and inspect your house and items to give you a quote for their services. If that’s not possible, then you can put together an exact moving inventory list instead.
Make sure refrigerators and freezers are defrosted before the removalists arrive. Unplug and secure washing machines, TVs, stereos, and computers. It might also be worth seeking advice from your suppliers regarding your equipment's transportation. Equipment that contains fuels must be emptied prior to transport.
Kyabram Removals & Storage can transport plants, and our team takes every precaution to protect them, but due to their delicate nature, we're unable to ensure or accept liability for any damage sustained. Plants should be watered a day before the move. If you're moving to another state, then you should check with the authorities if your plants can be lawfully imported.
On a previous inspection of your new home, choose the location in the bedrooms & living areas & determine where the larger furniture & boxes should be placed. This certainly makes the unpacking as easy as possible for your new environment. Most importantly nominate a person to be in attendance to ensure we are able to place all furniture & boxes in the correct locations.
Don’t pack your cartons upside down and don’t overload them. If you’ve half-filled a box with heavy items, then you can use something light such as a blanket, pillows or towels to fill up the rest of the space. Flammable, open-pressure vessels or spillable items should not be put into cartons, and make sure that perishable items aren’t put into storage. In fact, use smaller cartons for perishables, wine, books, etc. It’s economical to fill up each box but make sure that it stays flat on top. Tape the top and the bottom of the cartons securely with packing tape and label each one adequately.
Prior to booking your removal, please remember to discuss any access issues i.e. low power lines, low tree lines, low tree branches, steep hills, narrow streets, restricted parking areas, clearways, tow away zones & permit areas. Packing Advice, when packing your cartons, stack them in a corner of the room close to the loading point but not in the hallway or in front of doors.
